Don't Be Stingy With Your Ad Site Credits

Save Some Credits for Your Referrals

A good advertising site will allow you to transfer credits to your referrals or downline. I highly recommend taking advantage of this opportunity.  Of course, this typically only makes sense for sites where you have purchased an upgrade.

On traffic exchanges it is easy to save credits to transfer to your new referrals.  I do this by "auto-assigning" less than 100% of my credits, so I am always sure to have some left over when I get a new referral.  Not so easy on mailers, but it can be done if you are careful with how you use your mailing credits.  Honestly though, I am more likely to transfer on TE sites than Safelist sites.

Don't get me wrong, I am not suggesting that you transfer a ton of credits. In my opinion even 250 is a generous amount to transfer to a new referral.

Why would you do this, you ask?

Here are a few of my reasons...

  • Most sites do not provide you with the email addresses of new referrals
    • Transferring credits gives you an opportunity to send a short message to introduce yourself as their sponsor and open the lines of communication
  • It lets your downline know you are serious about the site and that their new sponsor is a real person and not just some link they clicked
  • It gives you the opportunity to offer assistance
  • It helps your new referral to get off to a good start
If you are not taking advantage of this feature of your sites, I recommend you consider it.  If the sites you are joining don't offer it, perhaps try to find a few that do, like ConversionSurf or Traffic Delivers.

Make Sure to Enjoy Some of Your Profits

I'm Finally Making Money What Should I Do?

In a previous Post "Keeping Your Online Biz Financially Afloat" I wrote about the proper use of budgeting your income vs. expenses to make sure your business survives and grows.  If you have not yet experienced a profit in your business where your income is exceeding your expenses, make sure to keep that article handy and refer to it so you stay on track.

Once you are "in profit" and your income is more than your expenses consistently each month, it's time to enjoy a little bit of your success.  After all, we are in business to make money for a reason right?  Each of us has a different reason, so I won't even try to guess what they all might be. No matter what that reason might be, I recommend taking a portion of your profits and rewarding yourself.

One method that you may want to consider is dividing your profits into percentages.  So for example, you may take a percentage each month as a reward, a percentage to use for your needs or goals, a percentage for savings and the remainder for reinvesting in your business.

Please make no mistake that I am not suggesting you take all of the profits out of your business.  You need to keep money in your business to keep it going strong and headed in the right direction.  Only you can know what these percentages might be.  Having a good mentor to help you "run the numbers" would be extremely beneficial.  Or, feel free to start a discussion on this blog post.  I'd love to hear from you.

A Great Place to List Your Home Biz for Free

Spotlight on US Biz Find

In my opinion, Affiliate Marketing is not always about sharing a link to grab the next commission, which is why I am starting a new series on free, quality ad sites that I work with.

My first spotlight is on US Biz Find.  They offer free and paid listings on their website so all of us affiliate marketers out there can gain exposure for our sites and home businesses.  After all, that is what it is all about, gaining exposure for what we offer.  I have found these folks are quality people with a quality product.  Again, there are no commissions here, no affiliate links, just a great place to list and advertise your business.

Here is what they have to offer:

Memberships:
Premium Membership : $60/year all features enabled (top of category, home page, featured flag)

Promo membership
Free : users have to renew every 30 days, enhancements are free.  Users must have US Biz Find banner/badge on site for length of time their ad is under this listing type.  Users can create a free account then notate while creating account they are interested in the promo membership.  Users must also give reason why they want the promo membership upon registration.  We'll send them the materials needed and once their listing is active, we'll enable enhancements free of charge.

Listings:
Free : Users have to renew every 30 days.  enhancements are extra $5/month for Home page, $1 for Featured flag, and $1 for top of category.

Click the banner below to list your business today!

Anyone who would like to be considered for a spotlight blog article, please email me at rjscommerce@gmail.com with your information.  You must be offering a free service (paid options are ok, but there must be quality free options as well.) Also, free does not mean a free book that leads to a joining a paid program.

Happy Easter to all.

To your success,

Treat Your List With Respect

This Could Be a Dangerous Blog Article For Me

Every time I enter a new blog post, I email my list of subscribers to let them know there is a new post out there.  Now I must say, most of these subscribers came from sources other than my blog. However, I feel that with my blog I am mostly trying to offer useful and informative information and not jamming sales copy down people's throats with every post.  Because of this, I feel fortunate that most folks have been receptive to receiving my "Blog Post Update" emails.  Of course, with each email, the recipient has the option to Unsubscribe, and I do get a couple of those from time to time.

Occasionally I do send an "offer" to my list when something exciting or timely comes along, but I do this very sparingly out of respect for the people on my list.  After all, they did not subscribe to advertisement from me that said they would receive offers ever day

We must be careful to treat our "List" with respect.  The people on our list have busy lives just like we do.  Also, there are written (Spamming) rules and even unwritten rules out there in this business that dictate that we do not blatantly send emails to our list for things they did not request.

I suppose I could go on and on.

The moral of the story is this...

If you are one of those marketers out there who are sending new offers to your email list on a daily basis for things they never even asked for, it's time to take a break and give them a break.

Treat your list members with the same respect you want to be treated with.

To your success,

Bob Swetz

P.S. For those of you on my list.  If you feel I am overstepping my bounds with my emails, PLEASE feel free to let me know, I would appreciate the feedback.

Making Your Email Ads Attractive

Make Sure Your Emails Look Good!

The content of your Safelist Emails is extremely important.  I would say that is something we can all agree on.  However, from the looks of the thousands of emails I get from Safelists, I am not so sure if folks realize the appearance of their emails is equally important.

We have one brief moment to get someone to click on our ads.  The attractiveness of those ads is an important component in determining whether or not we are going to get that all important click.

Since we don't need to talk about content, it will be easy for me to give a couple examples of what I'm talking about.  Tell me, which email below is more appealing to you?  Believe it or not, even if only in your subconscious mind, the visual appeal will have a substantial impact in triggering what your brain will do next.  Click or Delete.

Email A

Hello Everyone
I Have A Million Dollars to Give Away
If You Would Just Click My Ad

Email B

Hello Everyone,

I Have A Million Dollars to Give Away
If You Would Just Click My Ad

I know this is a simple illustration, but hopefully it gets my point across. The first email is difficult to read and tends to confuse the mind.  In some cases people will even get annoyed or angry looking at this email and delete it immediately.  The second email however, is very pleasing to look at and makes the reader feel confident in the message, thus making the chances of clicking on it much greater.  Make sense?  If you disagree, I would love to hear your comments.

Always Check Out Your Member's Area Carefully

Hey, There's Promo Codes In Here!

Nearly every ad site or program you join has a Members Area. Many even have a home page or a page that says something like Start Here!

It is very important to check out your member's area carefully.  This may take you a little time, but guess what?  There is valuable information in there.

Carefully studying the member's area is important for a few reasons:

  • You will learn about the site or program and how it works
  • You will learn how to make money (very important)
  • You will pick up all your affiliate tools here
    • Links
    • Banners
    • Sample ads
    • etc.
  • You may find bonuses and promo codes or special offers!
As I was reading through my member's area at ConversionSurf I found a page called "OTO Bonuses." On this page I found promo codes for somewhere around 10,000 credits for sites I was already a member of.  These credits are worth a lot of money! Had I not taken the time to look around, I would have never found them.

Hope this helps you get off to a great start this week!

To your success,

Bob Swetz

A Great Ad Site Starts With a Great Admin

How Do You Choose A Great Ad Site?
Look For a Great Admin!

There are many things that make a great ad site, whether it be a Traffic Exchange, Mailer, or some other type of advertising program.  One of the most important characteristics to look for in my opinion is a great site owner or Admin.

Marty Petrizza of Referral Frenzy is one of those site owners that stands out above many of the rest. First of all, she doesn't even know I am writing this, so I hope it doesn't get me into trouble. Anyway, I first learned about Marty when I joined Referral Frenzy and was totally impressed by how she put that site together.  One of the main things that stood out to me was the value she offered in return for my monthly investment.

Here are some of the things I like about Marty and how she runs her sites.  These are things I would look for in any site admin or owner...
  • She offers a significant level of value at each site for free members including the ability to earn commissions (at most)
  • Most of her sites have multiple ways to gain exposure to your programs
  • She is always coming up with new and innovative ways to drive traffic to your programs
    • Each of her sites offers something new and different
  • She is in close touch with the membership, which makes for an increased response to your advertisements
    • I typically get a much higher rate and quality of response to my ads from Marty's sites
  • She is very responsive to support tickets, I don't have to wait long to get an answer to a question
  • She is always coming up with new promotions to make upgrades affordable for more members at more sites
With that being said, if you come across a site owned by Marty, joining is highly recommended and upgrading is most likely a wise investment.  Here are a few of her sites I belong to that I really love:

(FYI Referral Frenzy is a Pro Only Site Just for Sending Mail)

I hope you find this information useful.  And have a wonderful weekend.

To Your Success,

Bob Swetz

Create Beautiful Splash Pages and Capture Pages for Free

I Finally Found A Great Capture Page Builder
For Free

First, for those who are not fully aware of what a capture page is, let me explain a little.  These pages go by many names such as squeeze pages, landing pages, lead pages and splash pages.  They are essentially short, one page ads that are intended on capturing the audiences' attention with the goal of getting them to click on your ad or fill out a form, thus leading them to your autorepsonder email series.

Many programs and ad sites that you join offer these pages for your use in selling the program.  They are great for placing on traffic exchanges, using in safelist ads, etc.  However there are times that you may want to create your own pages.  This may happen in several circumstances.  Here are 2 common examples that may cause you to want to make your own pages...

  • Your program does not offer a page that allows you to capture email addresses
    • This is very important if you are trying to create an email series or trying to build a list for future use
  • You simply do not like the pages offered by your program
Whatever the case, if you find yourself in the market for a page builder, you will find the good ones are all fairly expensive, especially for those on a tight budget.  Also, even if you have the money, you may not want to get into a $30 per month commitment just to make a couple pages here and there.  I found myself in the second category.

So, I set out on a massive search looking for a free or low cost program that I could use to create a few pages, and let me tell you I spent hours and hours searching until one late night I found the one!

This is not an affiliate site, so I do not have an affiliate link for you to join under, but this is what you have to do to get it free.
  1. Click the link above
  2. Once you get there, click the orange button at the top
  3. Fill out the form (they have only sent me one or 2 emails)
  4. They will email you instructions
  5. Basically what you have to do to get it free is share their site 5 times
  6. That's it
  7. I really love the program
Hope you enjoy and this helps.

To your success,

Bob Swetz

Good Goals Will Help You Make a Good Plan

Once Your Goals Are Set You Can Make a Plan

Yesterday we talked about setting goals.  I just wanted to do a quick follow up on that topic.

When it comes to setting goals it's a good idea to start at the end.  What I mean by that is to start by setting your long term goals.  When you do this, you can then begin to formulate your action plan as to what steps need to be taken in the short term to reach those goals.

Your action plans then become your short and medium term goals.

Let's just go over a quick example.

If you set as a long term goal to make $1,000 per month by then end of your first year, you begin to formulate your short and mid term plans or goals that will help you to reach your long term objective.

  • Long term goal = Income $1,000 per month in 1 year
  • Thought process = What steps need to be taken in the short and mid term to reach this goal?
  • Advertising = Membership in 60 Safelist Mailers within 6 months, upgrade in 12
  • Advertising = Membership in 12 Traffic Exchanges within 6 months, upgrade in 6
  • Programs = Membership in 3 core income earning programs in 6 month
  • Financial = Upgrade cost of Mailers and TEs $150 per month
  • Financial = Upgrade cost of Income programs = $90 per month
  • Time = Mailing and Surfing start at 2 hours per day, increase to 4 per day by month 6

Ok, this is a pretty simple layout of a plan that is formulated based on your income goal of $1,000 per month and admittedly I have not spent a ton of time mapping this one out.  It is just for illustration. But hopefully you get the idea.

Spending an adequate amount of time planning
is always time well spent!

One important point I also want to make is that if your long term income goal was to make $100 per month in 1 year, the remainder of your plan would be very much different.

Hope this gives you something to think about.

To your success,

Bob Swetz

Setting Goals and Weight Training

If You Don't Know Where You are Going
How Will You Get There?

Setting goals is an extremely important part of running a home business.  I learned this lesson at a very unlikely point in my life.

When I attended college at Penn State University I took an elective physical education class, Weight Training! I took this class mostly because I wanted to get into shape.  The very first day, the instructor asked us what our goals were for the class.  Most of the students said things like...

  • I want to get stronger
  • I want to look better
  • I want to lose weight
  • Etc.
The instructor corrected all of us quickly stating that in any activity you MUST have a specific goal. If you do not have a specific goal, you will never know if you get there. So, the goals above would be more appropriately stated as follows...
  • I want to be able to press 200 pounds
  • I want my chest to be 40 inches
  • I want to lose 35 pounds
In internet marketing, we need to set goals for many things such as how much money we want to make, how quickly we want to make it.  Also, we should set goals for our daily activities. Each of us would have our own unique goals of course.  Some examples of goals may be as follows...
  • I will post 50 ads per day
  • I will join 2 new ad sites per day
  • I will post on Facebook each day
  • I will spend $50 per month on advertising
  • I want to make $250 per month in 3 months
  • I want to make $500 per month in 6 months
These are just a few ideas.  I suggest you take a good look at your business and set some goals this this week.  It will help you immensely.

To your success,

Bob Swetz

Make Sure Your Free Gift Offers Value

I Have a Gift For You

I common technique in internet marketing is to offer a free gift to entice prospects to join or sign up for our programs.  The concept is generally works in one of 3 ways...

  1. Get a free gift (usually a PDF download) to join my list
  2. Get a free gift (usually a PDF download) that contains branded links, when clicked will join the reader into my program
  3. Combination of 1 and 2
This concept can be a valuable tool in building your internet business.

Make sure this gift offers value to your prospects!

This is very important as it goes a long way towards building Your Brand and your credibility with your prospects.

The example I like to use is my TripleA Plan which give frequently as a free gift. To be quite up front, this book is packed with links to many of my programs.  If you click on any of them, you will be taken to a sign up page to join that program as part of my downline.

However, if you never join any of my programs from this book, it is packed full of a wealth of information that will help any internet marketer tremendously in building their online business. Honestly, that leaves me with a pretty good feeling knowing I am able to put that in as many hands as possible, whether or not they join any of my programs.

Hope this helps keep you on the right track.

To your success.

A Unique Traffic Generating Machine

I Just Can't Say Enough About Leads Leap 2.0

I joined this site about a month ago as a free member and liked it so much that I upgraded after about 2 hours.  The value to an internet marketer is really incredible.  Now I am not suggesting that everyone has to upgrade because I know all too well about tight budgets, so you can judge for yourself whether or not an upgrade is worth it.  You can join for free, and there are a lot of benefits to free members.  Heck, you can even earn revenue sharing there as a free member.  They have a nice "Membership Comparison" that will help you make an informed decision.

Here are some of the features Leads Leap 2.0 has to offer:

  • The Real Tracker This is a link tracker and rotator, which I have spoken about before.  The difference here is that it will track what they call "real" visits, which are visits of more than 5 seconds to your links.  They try to weed out the robots and those that are not really viewing your ads.
  • Traffic Exchange Ads These are text ads you can post for free (if you have credits) or Pro if you are a paid member.  The really cool thing about these ads is that there is no ad timer in the TE.  Folks just view your ads and when they are ready, they move on.  Also, they rate them. This is so helpful in determining which ads work and which do not!
  • Blogging Tools There are several of these
    • The Pop-up Expert Allows you to put a pop up ad on your blog
    • The Leads Leap Widget Puts a widget with ads on your blog so you can earn points and traffic
    • The Rebranded Giveaway Is a free gift you can offer to get new leads
Well, I may be missing something, but hopefully you get the picture that Leads Leap 2.0 is really a Must Have for the active Internet Marketer.

Click the banner below to have a look for yourself.

Don't Go At This Business Alone

What Are You Doing Honey?

How many times have we heard that question from our spouse or friend or significant other?

When I first started this business I'm not sure why I felt the need to "keep it a secret."

Maybe it was because I felt it was difficult to explain to my wife, best friend and son what it was all about and what I was actually doing on my laptop all the time.  That turned out to be a  mistake.

Why?  Well, there was no one to talk to.  No one to share my successes and failures with.  No one to bounce ideas off of.

Once I made the decision to take the time to explain to them what I was actually doing that helped me in 2 ways:

  1. It really helped to clarify in my own mind what I was doing with this business and why.
  2. It gave me a real live support system that I could rely on in times that I needed it most.
So the moral of this story is...

Don't go it alone.  This "thing" that we are all trying to do online called "Internet Marketing" or whatever name you want to give it is a very important endeavor.  No less important than any job we wake up for and hop in the car to drive to every morning.  So be proud of it!

To your success,

Spotlight on a Fellow Marketer VivBounty

Spotlight on VivBounty

I would like to welcome my first guest blogger Vivienne Edwards.  Enjoy...

Hello there, VivBounty here to begin this post with most humble gratitude to my friend, Bob Swetz, for his invitation to feature me on his blog.

I post in the forum each time I get paid ~ F5M-MC Forum I then share that Forum link on Facebook to all the groups I associate with on a regular basis. Meaning to say, groups which are actually made up of people who are in programs with me or like minded who will actually respect the business I'm in as I respect their business.

A wise man, Rick Mathews, now Malik, taught me that if a person is peddling something to you and won't even take a look at your program, not bothered to spend even the $5 one-time fee for life that it costs to get into our least expensive program, F5M-Millionaires Club, do you really want to be in business with he or she? There are places where advertising is like, as he says, "Everyone is throwing stuff at the wall hoping something sticks". I don't want to be there, to be honest.

So a list of my groups includes, always, Plugin Homebiz Site, DailyNetPay, Advertise With DailyNetPay, DNP Team Success, F5M-Millionaires Club Forum and a few others. I also buy advertising as you will have seen by my forum post, with DailyNetPay in addition to using Plugin Homebiz Site to create a very effective marketing funnel which puts paid members into my team in 2 income earning programs already listed above.

Recently, one of my online associates posed a question on my "got paid" post asking what he/she might be doing wrong? It is not that anyone necessarily does anything wrong in trying to earn money online. It is a difficult business and the market is saturated. According to http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm, there are an estimated 3 billion Internet users worldwide! Tenacity certainly helps. You need to keep working at your business. Be disciplined, committed, follow instructions, really know the program you are promoting and if you believe in it, never, never give up on your dream.

A good foundation to working in any industry is education. I began my online marketing journey with Lead Generating Tools (LGT) ~ http://lgtmarketing.com/lgt/vivbounty/rs/ back in 2008. I started with a free membership which led me to the training room in webinar format. LGT owner, Steve Swetman was frequently found in there training personally, and manning the room as head trainer was always Debra Chism. Along with Debra, several trainers who each have their area of expertise have taught me different things. I am now a Gold member of LGT and do my entire Internet business using Lead Generating Tools services and products.

I feel so blessed to have found LGT because every time I go to do something online, I think, "I learned to do this in the LGT training room". Here are just a few of those skills,  Starting a free blog on Google's Blogger platform, creating a Web site using basic HTML or WordPress platform, using an autoresponder, with that responder creating a list building campaign, cloaking affiliate links so that your sales are protected, using free File Transfer Protocol (FTP) with free resources like FileZila to get my sites and brand online, open source programs that can make PDF's or edit them like OpenOffice, and pulling it all together from start to finish, hosting your Web site, all the tools you will ever need for your Internet Marketing Dashboard and tons and tons of products you can use to brand yourself and make real money online. I even did a short stint as a trainer in the LGT training room. That is where VivBounty, my online brand name was born of a desire to inspire others to create their own bounty, whatever that is for them, whether it is money, or a better lifestyle, or a deeper spiritual connection, start a blog to show crafts, photos, a garden, or just expand into whatever their divine plan may be, that it would be bountiful.

Network marketing, affiliate marketing, or just any marketing is always about relationships. Business is about relationships. I am a people person and I wear my heart on my sleeve. Integrity is very important to me. If I join a program and my sponsor or the admin don't respond when I reach out or don't seem to care about my success, I cannot remain there. I don't treat people that way and thus would not tolerate being treated that way.

Of course, in business like in life, there are tedious, mundane things that need to be done to keep things going like advertising, checking email, keeping up with your social media connections - again these are relationships, not blasting or SPAM ads. I see these, as one person in a Web conference said, like doing your dishes daily or keeping your lawn mowed, they are maintenance chores which allow you to be organized and run your life or business in an efficient way. If your daily routine is chaotic in life or in business, your flow will always be interrupted, then you don't finish a task, which leads to two tasks and eventually you become overwhelmed and give up. Never give up!

Someone once taught me, I think it might have been Mike Hall, TSD - Thing, Step, Day. Do a thing, that finishes a step, each series of steps completes each day.

Thank you again, Bob for your friendship, generosity and integrity in this melee of Internet marketing we share. May you be blessed a thousand fold for all you do for others.

Prosperous Blessings,
VivBounty

What's Makes A Good Headline?

A Headline Should Make the Reader Click!

A word of warning.  The contents of this article are strictly based on my personal opinions, not hours of research, so please read with that in mind.

So anyway, I want to explore a little bit about what makes a good headline for a text ad, or even an email...

I see so many headlines as I read through my emails and view ads on various sites that frankly don't interest me even a little bit.  These fall into the category that I like to refer to as the "out of reach" headlines such as:

You Can Make $5,000 Per Month in the Next 14 Days!

Honestly, I don't even believe that.

The next category that really don't inspire me are the "copied" headlines or subject lines.  These are the ones that are copied right from the "Affiliate" area of  the site you are promoting.  You can see them coming a mile away, because they are word for word like hundreds of other ads you see copied each day.

Now when I write my headlines (and let me say I am not a master at it) I like to think of 2 things:

  1. Would this headline or subject inspire me to click to learn more?
  2. Do I think it will inspire others to click to learn more?
I really think it's that simple.

It's also good to make it a question that the reader has to answer, or is almost forced to answer.  I like something like this...

Are You Looking for the Perfect Sales Opportunity?

I mean, who could answer no to that question?

Well, I hope this helps.

To your success,

Bob Swetz

How Would You Rate a 5 Star Ad?

This is My Headline
I Really Want You To
Click On My Ad

On Leads Leap users have a unique opportunity to have their text ads rated by other users on the system.  This gives everyone an idea as to how effective their ads are.  But as I look at the different ratings on my ads, it makes me wonder, what part of my ads are being rated?  Or is it the whole thing?

Let me explain...

There are really 3 parts to a text ad in most cases.

  1. Headline.  This should be the attention grabber.
  2. Ad Text. This is a little more in depth, but still limited amount of text that should pull the reader into your ad.
  3. Landing Page. This is the page the reader lands on when they click on your ad.
Now my purpose here is not to go into how to structure each part of the ad, that may be for another blog post.  But really, what level of importance is placed on each section.  All I can do is give my opinion on the importance I place.  So...

This is where I could really use some reader feedback folks!

Anyway here's my two cents...

The Headline is what makes me initially click on the ad, so it better be good.  Bad headline, no click. The Ad Text doesn't do too much for me either way, I usually don't read it cause I am in a hurry.  However, I place the most importance on the Landing Page!  If the landing page does not grab my attention in less than 10 seconds and give me a darn good reason to click it, then you have lost me.  Oh, and I better not have to scroll down on the page either.

So there it is.  I would love some feedback on this.

To Your Success,

Bob Swetz

Building Relationships and Friendships

It's A Lonely World Out There!

The internet marketing business can be a pretty lonely world.  We post ads, send emails and try to get new referrals in our business, ad sites, etc.

This is all done to build our businesses, earn commissions in the hopes of earning a solid online income.  This can be a great business which is why there are so many of us out there.

But, it is so much better when we have some friends that we can build our businesses with. Which is why I like to build as many relationships as I can along the way and I recommend you do the same.

Friends can be found on Facebook, Google+, Twitter, and in your Downline or Upline in your programs.  I really think it is a great idea to reach out to folks.  Try to learn a little bit about the people you are working with in your business.  Don't just treat them as another commission!

I mean really, wouldn't you do that if you were doing business face to face?

You know what else, the people that I have built relationships and friendships with always turn out to be the best people to work and grow with.

I just want to say to the folks I have met online (and I hope you know who you are) that I appreciate your friendship and am happy to know you.

To your success,

How Should I Spend My Time?

I Only Have A Couple Hours A Day
How Should I Spend It?

Many of us out there in the internet marketing business who are trying to better our lives earning a second income still have to work a primary job. This leaves us with sometimes only an hour or two a day to work at our online business.

So, the question becomes.  How should we be spending that precious time?

I thought perhaps I could share with you how I spend my time.  For better or worse, maybe it will help some of you organize the hour or so you have available.

  • Blog  about 1/2 hour, includes writing and posting it on Facebook and sending out email update to my list
  • Sending safelist email ads  about 1/2 hour, includes writing the add and sending.  I am a member of Referral Frenzy which allows me to send to many sites with 1 click.  It's pretty amazing, but costs $15 per month.  It's a great investment and HUGE time saver.
  • Surfing Traffic Exchanges about 1/2 hour.  I am a member of 4 TEs, (Upgraded at 3)
  • Updating ads and maintaining my Leads Leap pages 1/2 hour
  • Responding to emails, etc. 1/2 hour
Now that is the nuts and bolts of my day when I have a limited amount of time.  When I have some extra time, of course I do much more.

Hope this helps.

It Helps To Follow Instructions

Do I Really Need to Read All Those Instructions?

When you join a new program or even an ad site, most of them have a Home Page or a page that says something like "Start Here" or something like that.  These pages may also look like FAQ, Quick Start, Advertising Guide, or have many other names.

Well, whatever they are called, these pages are VERY IMPORTANT!

Do not overlook them.

Most admins provide these pages to help you run your business in the best way possible so that you can be successful.  If you follow the PROVEN steps, you have the best possible chance of making money in that program.  If you don't, well you will most likely FAIL.

With that being said, we always do have our upline to fall back on, but lets give them a little break and make sure we put in our own efforts first.

Use the resources that are provided and learn your business.  Understand it, inside and out. Then, go to your upline if you still need help.  That is your path to success!

Have a great day!

Are You Making Any Money Yet?

Honey, Did You Make Any Money Yet?

How many times have we all been asked that question by our spouse or significant other?  Probably too many to count.

The problem is that in this business of internet marketing, we are led to believe that it is a "get rich quick" business and that is just not the truth.

I always tell my children, anything that you will achieve in life that is worthwhile will take much time and effort.  This business is no different.

Furthermore, why would anyone think that this business should be so much different than any other brick and mortar business that one might enter into?

Keep this in mind most businesses take time, and much effort and after months and even years of persistence and hard work they finally turn a profit!

I hope this helps keep things in perspective.

How To Find a Good Mentor

Help Me Please

Ok, so you really love this Internet Marketing business, but just can't seem to figure it out.  Well, that puts you in the same category as most of the folks out there.

Maybe what you need is a good mentor, friend, partner or just someone who is willing to offer a little help and support.  How do your find this person and what should you look for?

As with any relationship, I think the best way is to begin with a friendship.  Find someone who has similar interests, common goals, someone who "gets" you.

So where do you find this person?  Here are a couple places they may be hiding:

  • Facebook
  • A sponsor in a new business you just joined
  • Someone you "bump" into on a TE
  • Twitter or other social media
What to look for in a good mentor:
  • Someone with common goals
  • Someone with integrity
  • Someone with common interests
  • Of course, someone with knowledge of internet marketing
What to avoid:
  • Someone who is always looking for something in return for their advice
  • Someone who is constantly asking or trying to convince you to join their stuff

Hope this helps folks

When is the Right Time to Promote an Opportunity?

Why Isn't Anyone Signing Up for Your Program?

It is quite possible you may have come across the best opportunity since sliced bread and are advertising it like crazy but...

No one is singing up and you just don't know why!

Well, that can always be a mystery.  One possible reason is that you are not promoting opportunities at the right time.

I'm not totally sure what the wrong time to promote is, but I can give you some great examples of when the right time just might be.

Generally, a great time to promote is centered around a time when the admin is offering awesome One Time Opportunities (OTOs) or special promotions for holidays, anniversaries, etc.

So here are a couple great examples:
  • A New Launch
    • During a new product launch the admin generally offers great OTOs that are really hard to pass up.  Everyone loves a new launch.  This is a great time to promote and pick up some referrals and probably some commissions.
  • A Site Anniversary
    • During and anniversary the admin usually offers great promotions for new sign ups. Again, a great time to sell the heck out of this site and pick up new referrals and commissions.
Your job is to watch for these opportunities with programs and ad sites you currently own and get your ads ready for when they come along.

Tip:  If you haven't already picked up on my previous tip regarding Conversion Surf and the TripleA Plan, there is a big 4th Anniversary Celebration coming up on Monday February 29th.  Doug Forbes, the Admin will be having promos all week, so this would be a great time to hop in, grab an upgrade and sell this thing like crazy.

To your success,

Bob Swetz

Don't Forget to Verify Your Sign Ups

Verify Or Nothing Happens

When you sign up for a new program, eBook, ad site, or just about anything, NOTHING HAPPENS until you verify your email address.  Well pretty much most of the time.

I am going under the assumption here that if you have taken the time to review an advertisement and thought enough to fill out a form that you are interested in that program or site.  But...

You must, in most cases, remember to verify your email address to complete the sign up process. Many online marketers have multiple email addresses, so it is important to keep track of what email address you used to sign up with so you can retrieve that verification email to click on the verification link.

It always surprises me when I get a notification that I have a new referral in a program or on an advertising site and they never verify their email.  I wonder, did they just forget, lose the email, or change their mind?

Would love some feedback here.  Does someone really change their mind about signing up in the 30 seconds between filling out a form and receiving the verification email?   I Would love to know the answer to that question.

So, I guess my message for today is 2 things...

First, don't fill out the form unless you really intend on completing the process.

Second, remember to complete the process.

Click on that verification link.  Please.

Find Something That Works and Stick With It

Stop Changing Your Mind, It's A Waste of Time!

Ok, I have to admit, this article is perhaps more of a speech to myself as well as an instructional blog to the masses, but here goes.

This applies to advertising, money making programs, online tools like trackers, autoresponders, you name it.  But I am talking mostly about tools.

Find something that works and stick with it!

Let me give you an example or two...

Let's talk about autoresponders. If you are using an autoresponder, you know that it takes a long time to build your list and set up emails.  Especially if you are using an email series in one or more programs.  You could have 10, 20 or more emails, and who knows how many list members.  Then comes along a new program that has a FREE autoresponder included with it.  The question is, should you move all your stuff from that other autoresponder to the new one?

Well, I suppose that all depends...

The new one may be free, but how much is your time worth?  Is it really worth the time to move all those prospects and emails to the new FREE service.  You be the judge, but remember, time is money.

Another example and a BIGGIE is trackers.  I have had been using a tracker for a while now and decided to switch.  Do you have any idea how many links I have all over the internet from that tracker???

This is a monumental task finding all of the places I now have to go to change out my links to the new tracking system I have switched to.  Do I regret making the switch?  Probably not, in this case, I have good reason as I am changing to a new platform at Leads Leap.  But, it is a daunting task to make the change and one that should be done with careful consideration.

Let me tell you it will be the last time I ever change trackers!

So, just remember.  There are great tools, programs and the like.  Find what works and stick with it. If you need to make a switch, make sure the pros outweigh the cons!

Teamwork, The Key to Success

Don't Try To Go it Alone, It's a Lonely World Out There

As with nearly anything we attempt in life, working together with a team of qualified and hard working individuals brings much better results than "going it alone."

Remember the old saying...

Together
Everyone
Achieves
More

Well in the world of network marketing this is so true.

We really need to find a team of a few core members that have a common goal and purpose to share successes and failures, ups and downs.

Now, when I refer to a team, I do mean everyone working together.  Not just one person doing everything.  As you work online, look for folks that have common interests.  People that share the same vision as you do and conduct business in the same manner as you.  Not everyone does things the same.  Remember my post about Integrity.

Once you find a few good people to work with, divide up the responsibility using each persons strengths and you are off to the races.

Keeping Good Financial Records Makes for a Healthy Business

Keeping Track of Your Financials is Not Fun But it is Important!

Ok, I know this is probably the most boring topic I may write about, but it is important to track all of your income and expenses related to your online home business for several reasons.

  • In an earlier post Keeping Your Online Biz Financially Afloat I wrote about the importance of budgeting.  Well, if you are not tracking all of your income and expenses, you won't be able to properly track your budget, which means you really won't know where you stand financially and whether or not you are doing well against your goals.
  • Keeping track of the ins and outs in your bank account helps you know how much you have to spend at any point in time and helps you make a quick decision (which is sometimes necessary) about whether to join that program or ad site.  No money = no new program.
  • Tracking ALL of your income and especially your EXPENSES can help save you big time when tax time rolls around.
    • Now, I can't speak for other countries, but this is very important in the US
Some expenses that are often forgotten about are:
  • Internet fees
  • Paper supplies
  • Computer and printer supplies
  • Vehicle expenses if you have to run around to buy stuff
  • Cell phone usage and fees
  • The cost of record keeping systems
  • And of course, the obvious
    • Program fees
    • Ad site fees
    • Fees for tools like trackers, autoresponders, etc.
You can do all this book work on a simple spreadsheet.  Also, some banks have a component on their online banking site that will help.  Finally, there are many online sites, some even free that will help with your bookkeeping.  So, good luck and start tracking that money.

Don't Waste Free Advertising

Free Advertising is Just Waiting For You...
Don't Waste it!

You may have a ton of free advertising already at your fingertips and not even realize it.

Every time you join a new safe list mailer or traffic exchange there are 2 things you MUST DO...
  1. Do not forget to enter the PROMO CODES
  2. Do not forget to set up your BANNERS and TEXT ADS
Promo Codes:

Most sites (but not all) offer a promo code to new members just for joining.  You need to find the code and the right place to enter it, which can be a little tricky sometimes. Enter the code and this usually gives you free credits, banners and text ads.

Banners and Text Ads:

Again, most sites have a place for you to set up banners and text ads.  Here you can place ads for your favorite programs and ad sites that you want to promote.

This stuff is absolutely FREE folks.  You may not get a lot of clicks, but if you have 10 or 20 mailers and TEs with 10 ads on each, that is HUNDREDS of free ads that people are seeing EVERY TIME they log into the site to do their business.

So, the moral of the story today is...

Don't ever waste free advertising.

We spend enough on this stuff, let's grab the freebies when we can.

Persistence, Upline and Finding a Partner

How Are You Progressing in Your

Home Based Network Marketing Business?

For many in this business, progress can be a very slow road.  We join programs, post ads, it seems like we are doing all the right things and NOTHING HAPPENS!

This can be very discouraging.  The best advice I can give is to forge onward!

BUT, do not move forward without a plan!  So, how do you get the right plan you ask?

Well, most programs you join must be joined from an upline sponsor, correct?  I cannot stress enough the importance of connecting with your upline to find out what they are doing to succeed.  If you have a trustworthy and reputable sponsor, they will help you!  Work with them, find out what they are doing and listen to them.

If that fails, or if they are unwilling to work with you, sometimes you can go a level above.

If that fails, you can look on Facebook.  Find someone who is successful and is willing to work with others.

The bottom line is there are honest, hardworking, successful marketers out there who are willing and able to partner with others.  These are people you want to PARTNER with in your networking business.  Let them guide you and help you formulate a plan.

Then follow that plan religiously day after day and DO NOT STOP until you SUCCEED!

Time, Money and Clicking for Pennies

How Much Time Do You Spend Clicking for Pennies?

This post is somewhat related to my recent post on Home Business Finance.  When most of us start off in the online home business world or network marketing business money is very tight.  In order to get started, we must begin advertising on free sites.

Many of these free sites come in 2 forms:

  1. Traffic Exchanges
  2. Safelist Mailers
I have a slew of them listed out on my Advertising Page on my website.

In order to earn credits or "views" of your own ads at these sites, you have to click on other's advertisements.  When you do this, you earn views.  To be honest, if you have the time to do this, it is a great way to get your program seen and begin to build your "brand".  For those on a tight budget, this is a MUST to get started.

But, you need a plan to break this cycle of what I refer to as "Clicking for Pennies."

As I mentioned in my previous article, the plan is to join Traffic Exchanges and Safelist Mailers for free, put the time in to promote these sites and earn some commissions.  Use your commissions to UPGRADE, then you can stop the CLICKING and really begin the work of BUILDING YOUR BUSINESS.

Now here is the really important part, and it took me a little while to learn this...

Don't join just any TE or Safelist you see come across your web browser!  You need to join the right ones, you need to have an organized plan.  That is where the TripleA Plan come in.  This is a plan that has been over 4 years in the making that has been re-worked to perfection.  This Plan will guide you through step by step what works and what doesn't.  How to sell and how not to.  What sites to join and why, and what to avoid.

Don't try to re-invent the wheel when a successful, professional marketer has already done it for you.

It all starts here>>

To Your Success,

Bob Swetz

Integrity in the Network Marketing Business

Are You Conducting Your Networking Business

With Integrity?

This is such a tough topic to tackle, but I'm going to give it a shot.  There is so much going on in this business and everything changes so rapidly that it is hard to keep up.  Every day a new program is launching that offers potential members the opportunity to make hundreds if not thousands of dollars per week, no maybe even every day.

Now, is that really possible?  Maybe.  But, I don't know anyone who has accomplished that feat.

We must be careful in this business, because truth be told, the smallest possibility of "getting rich quick" is truly exiting, but it is just that a small possibility.

I could go on and on.  So here are some things I try to think of when offering a new program to a potential buyer:

  • Do I really believe the results I am selling are possible?
  • Do I believe everything the ad copy is selling?
  • Does the Admin have a good track record with this or past programs?
  • Do I think the program I am offering will be around in the long term?
  • Now here is the biggie...
  • Would I want to sell this program to my Mother, Son, Daughter, Best Friend?
If you can answer YES to these questions, then this is probably a good program to sell as part of your network marketing business.

These are just my thoughts, just something for you to think about.

To your success,

Bob Swetz

Keeping Your Online Biz Financially Afloat

How Do You Keep Your Online Home Biz Financially Afloat?

One reason most businesses fail, and I do mean most business, not just online businesses or home businesses is lack of money.

You may be feeling the financial crunch in your online home business as you are reading this article. Or, maybe it hasn't hit you yet.  In any case, it's time to start treating the finances of your business with the respect they deserve.

Let's face it, I'm going to state the obvious.  For ANY business to survive...

Money In MUST BE MORE than Money Out!

So, how do you make sure this is the case with your home business.

First, when you are getting started, you have to make sure you have at least a little bit of money set aside to invest in some advertising and a program or 2 to advertise.  These don't have to be large investments, but you will need money to invest.  Next, find ad sites that allow you to earn commission on referrals EVEN IF YOU DO NOT UPGRADE.  Once you start earning some commission, you can invest in some advertising upgrades which gives you more advertising power.

Finally, set a Monthly Budget based on what YOU CAN AFFORD to have going out each month even if you have nothing coming in.  Once you begin earning some cash with your advertising and program commissions, you can adjust your budget accordingly. DO NOT FALL PREY to folks trying to convince you to join every program that comes along.  Many try to make you feel guilty if you don't join.  This just wastes your precious financial resources.

To summarize:

  • Make sure you have some cash to get started
  • Start off with free ad sites that pay commissions to free members
  • Don't swing for the fences right from the start
  • Keep a budget and KNOW what you can afford
  • Use commissions to upgrade to increase your advertising power
  • Adjust your budget as your situation changes
This would be a good article for some conversation!!!

To your success,

Bob Swetz

Do You Need Your Own Website for Your Online Biz?

I Like Having My Own Website, But Do You Need One?

That is a darn good question.  To be honest I think the answer is a matter of opinion, so I can only give you the reasons why I choose to have my own website and let you try to make an educated decision on your own.

Here are some of the reasons I have my own website:

  • To tell people about me and what I am doing
    • This is more of an overall approach that goes beyond any one program or advertising approach
  • To have a place where I can consolidate and showcase multiple programs that I am involved in
    • This will bring together the various programs I promote to give people an idea of what I do and what my business approach is all about
  • To have a place to offer business tools to my team members
  • To showcase all of my ad sites on 1 page
    • I spend a lot of time gathering advertising sites that get results.  It is impossible to promote and share all of them.  I use my "Advertising" web page to showcase all of them in one place so folks can pick and choose which ones may work for them
Finally, I just like having a place where I can share content where and whenever I choose when something new comes along.

I have my website through Go Daddy, though there are many places that offer free website registration and hosting. Just Google it.

Grab About 160 Promo Codes at 1 Site

Everyone Loves Promo Codes!

I can't even place a dollar value on this one.  I just couldn't pass up sharing this deal with all of you.  I know this may seem like more of a sales pitch, and maybe it is.  But sometimes, a great deal is just a great deal.

A good friend told me about this site Truckload of Ads that offers promo codes to Traffic Exchanges, Safelists, Mailers, Text Ad Exchanges and a few other types of ad sites.  There are 16 pages of promo codes with about 10 sites on each page. So, by my calculations, that's about 160 promo codes.

To grab all these codes, the cost is $10 for a lifetime subscription.  That's a one time investment that will pay for itself in about 10 minutes.

Here is the link if you would like to check it out and get more information.

Staying Organized in the Network Marketing World

So Much To Keep Track of!
Where Do You You Keep It All?

Ok, Let's think about this for a minute.  In the Network Marketing business, we have a few things to keep track of:

  • Programs we have joined
    • Affiliate URLs
    • Banners
    • Text Ads
    • Email Copy
    • Team Members
    • Am I forgetting anything?
  • Advertising sites
    • Referral URLs
    • Banners
    • Text Ads
    • Email Copy
    • Monthly subscriptions
  • Meetings
  • Tools we are using
    • Skype
    • Meeting rooms
    • Trackers
  • The list goes on and on
If you don't have a good way to keep all of this information organized you will be pulling your hair out on a daily basis.  Not to mention, wasting a ton of time trying to find the information you need when you need it.

I recommend finding a good record keeping management system.  If you are somewhat computer savvy  (and hopefully you are in this business) then I have just the thing for you, and it is 100% FREE!

Have you ever heard of Evernote?  It's a totally free online system used to sort and keep notes, and notebooks.  You can organize just about everything.  Take pictures, screenshots, copy, paste, you name it.  I use this tool every day.  And, it syncs between devices, so I have it available just about everywhere I go.

Just click the link below to go to their website to check it out.  Sure, there are others but this is the one I happen to know and use all the time.  Happy Organizing.

How to Mail to 90+ Sites In 5 Minutes.

Really, You Can Do it With a Little Help!

So, I am learning viral mailers are a big key to successful promotion.

I found this site Referral Frenzy that lets you send to 94 mailers at one time. Of course, you don't have to join them all. Also, most of the mailers give you MONTHLY bonuses through Referral Frenzy, so you can pretty much join them for free and only upgrade at a few if you want or just stay free and there is no cost at all.

To do this Referral Frenzy costs $15 per month, but it is well worth the investment.  I can be a little stingy with my money, but sometimes, you have to spend a little to help grow and advance your business and let me tell you the bonus advertising you receive probably more than pays for the $15 monthly investment.

Listed below is the link for Referral Frenzy as well as some of the mailers I really like there, ones I am getting good results with. Feel free to check out the goods.

How to Manage Your Passwords and Logins

How Can You Possibly Manage All Those Passwords and Logins for So Many Programs and Advertising Sites?

That is the Question

I have the Answer

In this business, you can wind up with hundreds of web sites, user names and passwords from all of your affiliate programs and advertising sites, it can be maddening if not impossible to keep it all straight.  And, with so much to do and so little time, it is very important to have all that information at your fingertips in a moments notice so you can log in quickly and efficiently to get about your daily business.

Many years ago (and not even for the networking business) I stumbled across the wonderful world of Password Managers.  These little programs keep all your passwords and logins safe and secure in one place and only require 1 password to access the entire "vault".  Then, in most cases, with 1 click, you can launch the website you desire and the program will log you in and you are ready to go.

You may want to spend just a little time researching as they each have different features and pricing and some are even free to use.  The one I use is Sticky Password, which has a Chrome Extension, so all I have to do from within my Chrome Browser is hit the extension, select the site I want, and voila, it launches and logs me in to the site I want like magic.  It costs me around $20 bucks a year for the premium version so I can sync it with my phone.  Here are a few others I have tried in the past.

Hope this helps to make your life much, much easier.

Loyalty, Teamwork and Downline Builders

Network Marketing only really works when we act as a team and are loyal to one another!

I have found that I have the most success and most growth in this business when I work as a team with others helping them to grow along with me.

There are many ways to do this.  One way is to be loyal to the program you have entered by working the downline builder in that program.  If you are not familiar with downline builders, most programs have a section where you can enter your referral IDs for other (generally related) programs.  Here, you can join these additional programs under your initial sponsor, and TEAM MEMBER, thus enhancing your relationship and building your team.

Now, it is to your benefit to enter your referral IDs in the downline builder of your programs so that your referrals will go to that page and join these programs under you.

If people are loyal to this process, you begin to build a strong team that you can work together with to build a successful network of programs and everyone benefits.

The moral of the story...

Don't just go joining programs haphazardly!

Be Loyal!

Work with your Team!

And Join Programs from the Downline Builder!

To your success,

Bob Swetz

An Autoresponder Really Makes Life Easier

Do you use an autoresponder in your online business?

If the answer is NO, you really need to consider picking one up today!

Many programs include a free autoresponder as part of the plan, there is a good reason for that.  It is an extremely effective way for keeping in touch with your prospects and program members.

Just imagine a new program or tool comes along that you want to share with your team.  You can gather up all the email addresses and copy and paste them into GMail to send off your message, or you can type a quick message, select the list you want to send it to, and off it goes.

Also, when I get prospects in a program I am promoting, I like to send them a series of a few personally written emails to stay in touch with them.  An autoresponder series is a very easy way to do this.  Just enter the prospect into the list and the program takes care of the rest.

These are just a few examples of how to this email tool.  If you don't already have a system you are using, take a look at Mailer Lite.  Mailer Lite is a FREE service for up to 1000 list members, then it is $10 per month, at least that is the current price.  So, it is a GREAT way to get started with an autoresponder service.  I really love it!  There is no affiliate program here, so I don't get any commissions or bonuses for referring it.  I just hope I am able to help out with this one.

To your success.

Time To Start Tracking Your Ads

Is Your Advertising Getting Results?

It's pretty clear to most that you can't sell anything without advertising  However all the advertising in the world may not be very helpful if we are not tracking the statistics of that advertising.  What I mean by that is what advertising is successful vs. what advertising is essentially a waste of time and perhaps even money?

Now don't getting me wrong, getting the word out about your program, product or service is generally always a good idea, but tracking your ads can provide very useful information such as...

  • What ads are getting the most hits?
  • What ads are actually converting?
  • What squeeze pages are working the best?
  • What ad sites are getting the best results?
  • and so on...

I use Trck.me as my tracker.  You can also use this service as a rotator, which is a story for another day.  Another good tracker is HitsConnect.  You will also find many of your programs provide free trackers, so find out what works best for you and your budget.

One word of warning.

If you do a lot of advertising with Mailers and Traffic Exchanges, the trackers will show a lot of hits, due to the nature of these sites, which does not necessarily mean you are getting clicks, so just be careful with these stats.

Happy tracking.

To your succcess,

Bob Swetz

Don't Push Too Many Programs

About 5 years ago I embarked on a career in network marketing and boy did I work it hard.  Up early every morning before my "real" job, posting ads and all that.  Went to work, came home and posted more ads.  Repeat all this over the weekend and so on.  I did this for about 6 months only to fail and quit.  The moral of this story was that by the end of that time I was in about 20 programs none of which produced anything.  Do you know how hard it is to adequately promote 20 programs?

I'm sure many of you know what I'm talking about.

Since then I have learned that focus is the key.

How many programs should you promote?  That is up to the individual.  For me, it is 3 or 4.  Study them, learn them, understand them and believe in them so that you can confidently share them with others.

To your success,
